The Wonky Loaf began in 2018 as a tiny micro-bakery in Katie’s home kitchen — a true labour of love, shaped by floury hands and early mornings. What started with a single sourdough mother culture and a passion for good bread has since grown into a thriving bakery that now services the Sunshine Coast, supplying some of the region’s best health food stores and showing up each weekend at our favourite local farmers markets.
Despite the growth, our commitment to traditional sourdough methods hasn’t changed. Slow-fermented sourdough is still the heart and soul of everything we do — from our signature loaves and buttery pastries to our pie crusts and sweet tarts. Every product is made using a 36-hour fermentation process, which helps break down gluten and makes our baked goods gentler on the gut.
We use only high-quality, sustainable flours, and let time — not shortcuts — do the work. The result? Addictively good sourdough that’s as nourishing as it is delicious.

Our slow fermented sourdough is done over a process of 36 hours!
This helps break down the gluten, making it friendlier for our bellies. It also increases the nutritional density & the delicious taste is amplified.

We are a proud sustainable and organic sourdough bakery and are unable to offer options for those that are celiac. However, due to our slow fermentation and the high quality ingredients used, those that are gluten intolerant have found our sourdough products to be friendly on their bellies. Want to give it a try? Ask one of our friendly staff members to try some bread on the house.

We pride ourselves on a sourdough bread that is simple, nutritional & vegan friendly. The only 2 loaves that aren’t vegan, are our Sandwich loaf and Smoked Potato, Cheddar and Caramelised Onion.

Our HQ doubles as our bakehouse and cafe. You can find us here from Wednesday to Saturday 7am to 1pm and Sunday 7am to 12pm. This excludes public holidays.
We also have an epic market community and are regularly at Yandina and Kawana markets on Saturday and Noosa and Northey Street on Sunday.
